EDGEWATER – The morning dew was still visible on the YMCA’s soccer fields as the Black Cats teams emerged. In observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the members had worn pink t-shirts and caps instead of their normal team uniforms. Coach Heather Wilson said “I am happy we were able to do this.  While the fight against Breast Cancer has been adopted by many sporting organizations and large businesses, we thought it would be fun and educational to bring it to a very local level.”
The Black Cats team faced The Crushers, with the game resulting in a 1-1 tie. But, the day’s observance of a real life event, served as a learning opportunity for all. Parents were encouraged to explain the importance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month to the children, and the reason why wearing pink was so important.  Mr. and Mrs. McMillon donated the shirts, and Mr. and Mrs. Dorcy donated the pink hats for the team to wear.
