Hello, everyone. St. Patrick’s Day is this week. I don’t really know that much about St. Patrick, but I was told that he chased all the snakes out of Ireland. He can’t be all bad if he could do something like that. Mom’s got the house decorated in green four-leaf clovers that she calls “shamrocks.” Mom’s boss is Irish, and this is his favorite holiday. Me and Sebastian even have to wear these silly green scarves around our necks.
Humans sure have funny holidays. The best thing I like about St Patrick’s Day is that Mom always makes cookies for us canines. It makes us feel like we’re eating people food. The cookies are so good that I decided to share the recipe with you. Take some time to make cookies for your four-legged kids. They will love you for the special treat. Mom found a cookie cutter shaped like a four-leaf clover and she sprinkled them with green stuff. I wanted to tell her that we didn’t care what shape or color they were as long as we got to eat them and lick the bowl, but Mom looked so proud of her cookies, I decided to keep quiet.

Peanut Butter Bites
Ingredients
2 cups — smooth peanut butter, no sugar or salt
4 cups — honey
2 TBSP — water
1 1/2 tsp — baking powder
2 — eggs
2 cups — of whole wheat flour.

Directions
In a large bowl mix all ingredients until the dough is nice and firm. If the dough is too sticky you can mix in a little bit more flour. Knead dough on a lightly floured surface. Roll out dough ½ inch thick and cut with cookie cutter. Put the cookies on a baking sheet ½ inch apart and bake in the oven at 350°F for about 23 minutes. When done, cookies should be firm to the touch. Turn oven off and leave cookies inside for 1-2 hours to harden. Makes about 40 cookies.

Just remember not to use nuts or crunchy peanut butter because nuts can be toxic to animals. These cookies have as many calories as the cookies that you buy at the store so you need to watch how many you give to your canine buddies. I promise they will love these delicious treats and it’s a nice change from regular cookies. When Mom was baking, she had the house smelling all nice and yummy. Dad was very disappointed when he found out the cookies were not for him. Humans can also eat these cookies but without sugar, you may not find them as appetizing as us canine’s do. The best part, of course, is that we got to lick the bowl.
So folks, whatever silly holidays humans come up with, it’s always a good reason to bake us cookies! We will wear the silly green scarves around our neck and get our picture taken with shamrocks and beads, just keep those cookies coming!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day, everyone.
